Bristol’s biggest bike ride is returning

By Bristol24/7  Saturday Feb 12, 2022

St Peter’s Hospice is asking supporters, old and new, to get on their bikes and pedal for patient care.

Taking place on Saturday 9 April 2022, Tour de Bristol will be returning to the roads of Bristol and the surrounding areas with the choice of 40k, 65k, or 100k routes. The routes are fully signposted with feeding stations, chip timing, mechanical support and a medal for those that cross the finishing line.

The ride will start at UWE Frenchay Campus with staggered start times to help keep everyone safe.

St Peter’s Hospice Events Fundraiser, Hayley Ali, said: ‘We’re so excited to be returning for Tour de Bristol and hope to make it our biggest event to date. It’s with the help of our supporters, riding and raising funds for the Hospice, that we’re able to continue being there for patients and local families.’

‘Every pound you raise helps us to provide a nurse on the doorstep, a listening ear on the phone and the best possible care at the most difficult of times.’

Tour de Bristol will also be welcoming back sponsors Total Produce for the seventh year. Regional Director, Nick Matthews, said: ‘Our colleagues absolutely love being involved on the day, whether they are participating in the rides themselves or manning the feed stations.’

‘We feel that it’s always important to give something back to your local community and with St Peter’s Hospice having cared for two of our colleagues previously and my wife’s uncle in late 2014, it’s a charity with which we have very strong links.’

Everyone who crosses the finishing line gets a medal

Tour de Bristol first took place in 2015 with 350 riders but has since grown in popularity each year with over 1,000 people expected to take part in the next event.

There’s also the option to take part in Tour de Bristol: Your Ride, allowing supporters to customise their route and pedal the kilometres at a time that suits them.

Registration is now open, visit www.tourdebristol.co.uk or call 01275 391400 to find out more and to sign up.
