Bristol Charity Advent Calendar – day one

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Nov 29, 2016

The Julian Trust Night Shelter on Little Bishop Street in St Paul’s helps the homeless by providing emergency beds, clothing, food and shower facilities to between 80 to 100 guests, five nights a week.

Other services include a weekly visit from St John Ambulance and St Mungo’s outreach workers.

This month there are a few ways that you can help support the Night Shelter:

Independent journalism
is needed now More than ever
Keep our city's journalism independent.

Donate food and clothes: The shelter are in need of new boxer shorts, socks, jeans, blankets, canned food and more. They accept donations after 8pm, every day apart from Thursday and Sunday.

Donate money: It costs around £1,500 per week for the shelter to run, so any donations are welcome. Find out how to donate at www.juliantrust.org.uk/donate

Donate your skills: The Night Shelter are always looking for volunteers to help keep it running. To volunteer, contact the shelter at www.juliantrust.org.uk/contact-us/

If you’re concerned about someone sleeping rough, the charity urges you to contact www.streetlink.org.uk or call 0300 500 0914

Every day during Advent, Bristol24/7 will be focussing on a Bristol charity that you can support. If you want to see a charity featured, please email cat@bristol247.com
