#BristolCharityAdvent Day 4: SARSAS
SARSAS provides support to people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES, North Somerset and Somerset, who have experienced rape or any kind of sexual assault or abuse at any time in their lives.
The charity works to support women, men, girls and boys by helping them to cope with the experience they’ve survived, and to build the emotional strength and resilience needed to continue on with their lives.
One in five women will survive sexual violence from the age of 16, and there are currently an estimated 126,000 female adult survivors of sexual violence living in the region that SARSAS covers.
is needed now More than ever
Through the services they offer, the charity hopes to reach as many of these women as they possibly can.
With a small team of staff, session counsellors and 40 volunteers, SARSAS runs a helpline five days a week, an email support service, and provides counselling and specialist therapeutic support.
More than 1000 women and girls access the services every year, in need of help and reassurance.
Anyone in need can call the freephone helplines (Mon & Fri 11am-2pm; Tues-Thur 6pm-8.30pm). Women and girls can call 0808 801 0456 and men and boys can call 0808 801 0464.
