Following previous trails featuring camels, lions, zebras and elephants, the Broadmead BID team is once again joining forces with The New Room (John Wesley’s Chapel) and The Methodist Church’s Ark Bus this spring to create another exciting event – their biggest Easter trail yet – a flamboyance of flamingos!

Children of all ages from across Bristol have been decorating flamingos for the past few weeks and from Saturday 24 March until Saturday 7 April the 52 cardboard figures will be hidden around Broadmead, The Galleries, The Arcade, and Cabot Circus ready for young shoppers and their families to hunt down over the Easter holidays.

Maps showing their locations will be available from the information desk in Cabot Circus, Barber Browns on Bond Street, Specsavers in Merchant Street and the New Room/John Wesley’s Chapel in Broadmead.

Children who complete the trail will be able to visit the New Room to collect a chocolate gift (Monday to Saturday only) and when the trail ends all 52 flamingos will be displayed there until 14 April.

Broadmead BID manager Jo Hawkins says: “The flamingos will be a colourful addition to Bristol Shopping Quarter this Easter and we hope they’ll encourage people to explore all four corners of Broadmead, The Galleries, The Arcade and Cabot Circus.”

Meanwhile, in The Galleries, Easter will be taking a Jurassic twist when the Dino School opens for business from 27 to 29 March. Budding palaeontologists will be able to take part in the Big Dino Dig and enjoy dino classes, games, and activity sessions as well as a dinosaur hunt.

For those with an interest in all things Tudor, The Galleries will also be hosting a fantastic display of LEGO models including Hever Castle, Shakespeare’s Globe and the Mary Rose ship. Find them outside Eurochange on the ground floor. On Tuesday 3 April there will be free LEGO workshops where visitors will be able to make their own Tudor-themed LEGO brick models such as knights and castles to help create a terrific display.

The Galleries is also home to a fantastic pop-up Ping Pong Parlour. Located on the first floor, near DestinationSkin, it is open daily from 9am to 7pm (11am to 5pm on Sundays) throughout Easter and beyond. There are three tables and it’s absolutely free to play, just pick up a bat and ball and get going.

And don’t forget to check out Cabot Circus, where a fabulous free Easter kids’ activity will be taking place on Thursday 29 March.
