Sponsored feature
If you’ve not cycled for a while and would like to get back on a bike for fitness, leisure, or a quicker and more convenient way to get to work, then the Better By Bike loan bike scheme can help.
is needed now More than ever
The scheme is different from a daily bike hire, as a wide range of quality bikes can be borrowed for up to a month, absolutely free of charge, and many people have found it a great way to boost confidence before investing in a new bike.
The friendly team can assist in helping you choose the right bike from a hybrid, foldable and now a new range of electric bikes, and they’ll help you set the bike up, advise on the best routes to use and even provide some rider training to help navigate around the city with style.
“I recently moved to Bristol to study and found out about this scheme through the university. Bristol has a strong association with cycling and I thought I would give it try as I’d not been on a bike since having my first job as a paper round! I’ve now got more experience and confidence riding and enjoy exploring the city by bike.” Jon
All bikes are regularly serviced and come with all the accessories you’ll need – such as; a D-lock, cable lock, lights and pannier. If you require a helmet, you’ll need to supply your own.
“We find a lot of people would like to start cycling but don’t have access to a bike”, says Kate, a loan bike coordinator for Better By Bike. “This scheme is great as it allows someone to borrow a bike for a longer period to see if they like it. Many people have since gone on to buy a bike and regularly cycle for exercise or to get to work quicker and more easily.”
The loan bike scheme is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
