My heroic efforts trying to find Hero Fiennes Tiffin in Bristol
When I arrived in town on Tuesday morning, I quickly spotted a man dressed in an overcoat and top hat.
While this could have just been a bold fashion statement (this is Bristol after all), his Victorian attire told me that he was most likely an extra.
My theory was proven right when I turned the corner after him into Queen Square and saw a huge production team setting up for what looked like a film shoot.
is needed now More than ever
Sherlock Holmes would have been proud of me.
After my Editor sent me on a mission to find out exactly what is currently taking place in various locations around Bristol, I deduced that this was where I needed to be.
Areas of the Old City including Small Street and Corn Street have been transformed for the filming of Young Sherlock for Amazon Prime and it was my job to track down director Guy Ritchie and the young Sherlock himself, Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
I found somewhere to stand as inconspicuously as possible on Queen Square Avenue close to Spicer & Cole. Every good detective needs a coffee.
Close to my vantage point, I could see a sign for ‘Baker Street’. This was the clue that I needed! I even took a video which my Editor complemented me for.
A job well done. I may still be on work experience but I could one day be the Watson to his Holmes.
On Queen Square – or should that be Baker Street? – there were dozens of extras dressed in Victorian finery, horse-drawn carriages and vintage streetlamps lining the cobbled street which had the addition of a water trough.
I eagerly approached the set, liking my chances of seeing either Guy Ritchie or Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who thanks to my meticulous research I can inform you has more than seven million followers on Instagram and is a big West Ham fan.
After watching the shoot for a while, I heard two passers-by chatting with a security guard who said – to my dismay – that neither director nor star were on set today.
It looked like my case would remain unsolved. But I do now have a penchant for overcoats and top hats.
