Muslims4Bristol to share Christmas Day with Bristolians in need
Social action group Muslims4Bristol will be hosting their third festive food sharing event this Christmas Day. A group of around 30 people, predominantly from Muslim and Sikh communities, will be providing hot food and drink at Easton Sports Centre carpark from midday.
This 100 per-cent community-funded event is hosted for those who will be spending Christmas Day alone or without shelter this year, allowing them to share the day with others. The group say they hope the event will bring joy and warmth to Bristolians.
Families and individuals, including children, will be involved in the cooking and distribution of food on Christmas Day. After the lunch event, the volunteers will split into groups and travel around Bristol to give sustenance and company to those that need it.

People have been getting involved through social media and word-of-mouth, and so far 20 different families have volunteered to cook for approximately 200 people, with many businesses donating food to the cause.
“We want to engage the Muslim community in active citizenship roles, support homeless citizens of the city and show that we care,” explained Mohammed Elsharif from Muslims4Bristol. “We also aim to counter the negative image of Muslims as being outsiders and encourage more focus on what matters in the city we live in”.
Participants are encouraged and are welcome to bring their own food and drink provisions to distribute, provided contact is made with Muslims4Bristol first to arrange.
Muslims4Bristol will be gathering at the Easton Sports Centre Carpark, Thrissel Street, Easton, BS5 OSW from midday on December 25. For more information or to find out how to get involved, please call 07790988429.
