Green Capital 2015: My Green 2015

By Bristol24/7  Wednesday Mar 18, 2015

‘My Green 2015’ is an opportunity for Burges Salmon staff to pledge to do something a little differently in 2015 that can positively benefit the natural environment, and to share their experiences with others.

The project plans to engage staff through:

  •     Celebrating that small ‘green’ actions make a difference
  •     Learning good practice from others
  •     Encouraging engagement with all the fantastic and cutting edge green activities going on in Bristol that helped it win the European award
  •     Having fun

These aims are encapsulated by encouraging small behavioural changes, linking these up to Bristol 2015 and sharing knowledge, ideas and experiences.

Keep our city's journalism independent.

Nearly 100 pledges have been made by employees so far, with promises such as: participating in Meat Free Monday, disabling lift passes, walking to work, and stopping the use of plastic bags.

All sorts of exciting things are happening, all over the city, all year as part of European Green Capital 2015.

Alan Barr, Senior Partner at Burges Salmon, said:

“All sorts of exciting things are happening, all over the city, all year as part of European Green Capital 2015 and it’s already showcasing what an energetic, forward thinking city Bristol can be.

“This is, of course, a product of all the enthusiasm that is channelled into ‘green’ issues in the City – by individuals, businesses and local government.

“In addition to our commitment as an Official Sponsor of Bristol 2015, we’re really keen to harness some of that initiative and enthusiasm here at Burges Salmon, so everyone at the firm can be part of the campaign, share experiences and learn along the way.

“They can pledge to do something as small or large, as wacky, fun or sensible as they like and we have so far had a great take-up with nearly 100 pledges in the first two weeks.”

Burges Salmon, who recently earned their ISO 14001 certification, also have an annual Green Week.
