250 mile charity cycle to conclude at Ashton Gate Stadium

By Hannah Massoudi  Wednesday Jan 22, 2025

A 250 mile charity cycle is to conclude at Ashton Gate Stadium on Saturday. Football fan Lewis Robinson has fundraised more than £8000 in doing so.

Lewis Robinson aka ‘Wild Rover’ is cycling to every Blackburn Rovers away game this season, a total of 3314 miles in those hopes of raising £25,000 for Smiley Smiley Josh Riley Charity.

Starting from his beloved Ewood Park stadium, he has cycled across the UK for each game in all weather conditions, but he says: “It is a challenge I am willing to face in honour of my friend and for the benefit of those in need.”

Lewis lost his friend to cancer. As a result he wanted to help others in what way he could.

The money raised would contribute to the building of a lodge in the Lake District, which is to be used specifically for those aged 18 to 40 living with cancer and their family for short breaks to be together and live.

Lewis said: “We have been overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and support from the community and other football clubs so far on this growing challenge.

“We have been in contact with Bristol City FC in hope they can too get involved.”
