Bristol24/7 Presents: Introducing the panellists
The panellists taking part in a live discussion on how Bristol can rebuild a fairer, greener and stronger economy have been confirmed.
The conversation on December 10 will focus on topics of sustainability, inclusivity and how companies can adapt to thrive through the challenges faced in the wake of Covid-19.
It will be hosted by Bristol24/7 News and Business Editor Ellie Pipe, with panellists Jaya Chakrabarti MBE, the CEO of tiscreport.org, Andrew Dobbs, who leads Willmott Dixon’s sustainable development strategy for the region, Zara Nanu, the CEO of Gapsquare, professor Martin Parker, the author of Life After Covid19, and Liam Ronan-Chlond, the engagement and social value lead for property developer First Base.
The live discussion is part of the Bristol24/7 Presents: Building back greener, fairer, stronger free virtual event, taking place from 2pm on December 10, which will also feature video contributions from business people across the city.
Meet the panellists:

Jaya Chakrabarti MBE
A digital activist with a passion for using open data and technology for good, Jaya is the co-founder and CEO of the award-winning tiscreport.org, which focuses on tackling corruption and modern slavery in supply chains.
Jaya was named one of the top 100 Corporate Influencers in Modern Slavery 2018, and a top 100 Asian Star in Tech 2019. She serves on the Department of Culture, Media and Sport Digital Economy Business Advisory Group and the Home Office Transparency in Supply Chains Modern Slavery Strategy & Implementation Group and is an Honorary Research Fellow of the UCL Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science.
The entrepreneur is also developing Vana, a new afforestation app that uses the same principles of open data used to tackle slavery in supply chains and applies it to identifying land available.

Andrew Dobbs
Passionate about driving change in the way we build, Andrew leads Willmott Dixon’s sustainable development strategy for the region, challenging the business, supply chain and partners to be more sustainable.
He has been with the company for 18 years and is on Willmott Dixon’s Wales and West board. Andrew is currently working with industry partners to develop Design for Manufacture and Assembly techniques for construction using Modern Methods of Construction and lean principles to support the next generation of construction practice.

Dr Zara Nanu
The co-founder and CEO of Gapsquare, Zara is an expert on how diversity and inclusion can shape more dynamic and productive teams, and a more engaging and empowering workplace
She is an entrepreneur who believes business can generate social impact as well as revenues and profits. She is a Research Fellow at UWE Bristol, a member of the Future Council on Equity and Social Justice at the World Economic Forum and leads the membership of Gapsquare in the Equal Pay International Coalition (ILO).

Professor Martin Parker
A professor of organisation studies at the University of Bristol, Martin is the author of Life After Covid19 (Bristol University Press 2020), Anarchism, Organization and Management (Routledge 2020) and Shut Down the Business School (Pluto 2018). He is currently the lead for the Bristol Inclusive Economy Initiative.

Liam Ronan-Chlond
The engagement and social value lead for property developer First Base, Liam’s role is to ensure the Soapworks development on the former Gardiner Haskins site in Old Market delivers long lasting social value.
Liam has been building relationships with stakeholders across the city and has partnered with charities and community groups, including The Grand Appeal, Off The Record, 1625 Independent People and Cognitive Paths.
Before representing the built environment sector, Liam held roles in central and local government.
Following the live panel discussion, Jake Smith and Daniel Grixti of creative agency Tusko will give a short presentation on their ongoing journey to becoming a BCorp, and how they have sought to innovate in response to Covid-19.
