£500,000 gift to improve access to oldest parts of Bristol Cathedral
Bristol Cathedral is receiving almost half a million pounds to improve access to the oldest parts of the building which date back to medieval times.
The £475,000 grant is from the Julia Rausing Trust, set up in memory of the British philanthropist who married into the multi-billionaire Swedish family who own Tetra Pak.
Rausing sadly died in April and the grant to Bristol Cathedral is among the trust’s first grants totalling £16.7m to cathedrals, botanic gardens, museums and galleries.
is needed now More than ever
The Julia Rausing Trust will see £100m donated to charities and organisations in its first year and then annually.
Rausing was originally the co-founder of the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust, which since 2014 donated £400m to causes across health, welfare and the arts.
