73-year-old abseils down Southmead Hospital
A 73-year-old has tackled her fear of heights and raised money for charity in the process.
Undeterred by rain, Judy McIntosh was part of a team who abseiled down Southmead Hospital in aid of the hospital’s charity on Saturday, the day of the coronation.
They raised more than £30,000 in total which will help Southmead fund pioneering research, buy new equipment and support other projects which benefit both patients and staff.
is needed now More than ever
Judy, who lives in Sea Mills, said: “I wasn’t really nervous until the moment when I had to step off the edge, then my heart was racing. My legs were jelly by the time I got to the bottom.”

Back on solid ground, Judy is better known as “the Sea Mills yarn bomber” and her creations can often be seen topping the post box outside the Post Office in Sea Mills Square.
The weekend saw her latest creation: a knitted King Charles and Queen Camilla made their debut in honour of the coronation.
