£900,000 investment in city centre hotel

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Aug 28, 2024

One of Bristol’s most luxurious hotels is to get a £900,000 refurbishment.

Hotel du Vin on Lewins Mead is a former sugar refinery with 40 rooms and extensive wine cellars, with Hotel du Vin now also owning the Avon Gorge Hotel in Clifton.

The city centre hotel was where David and Victoria Beckham stayed in 2007.

General manager of Hotel du Vin on Lewins Mead, Andrew Thresh, said: “We are very excited about the upcoming refurbishment.

“The goal is to celebrate and enhance the unique character of our Grade II listed, 18th-century sugar house while introducing a modern, inviting touch.”

Designer Anita Rosato added: “I am genuinely excited about the upcoming refurbishment of Hotel du Vin Bristol.

“This renovation will blend the building’s original charm, high ceilings and exposed brickwork that honour Bristol’s industrial past, with a chic, contemporary ‘loft-living’ style.

“Our aim is to create a space that feels both nostalgic and new, reflecting the dynamic energy of the city.”
