Activists smash their way into Israeli-owned arms manufacturer

By Karen Johnson  Tuesday Aug 6, 2024

Activists have used what appears to be a prison van to smash their way into an Israeli-owned arms facility near Bristol.

A video published on Tuesday morning by Palestine Action showed a group of people wearing masks entering the Elbit Systems site in Filton using an angle grinder, and then smashing equipment with various tools once inside the building.

They claim to have “intervened” in what they call Elbit’s “genocidal supply chain” while spraying red paint on the walls.

Palestine Action were one of the groups who smashed the windows of Barclays bank in Broadmead in June.

Elbit Systems have been contacted for a comment. They have previously said in court that they do not supply Israel with arms.

Their UK base in Aztec West has seen numerous demonstrations with several activists prosecuted.

In February, seven protesters were found guilty in Bristol Crown Court of one count of burglary and one count of criminal damage.

They were later all given suspended prison sentences, ordered to pay more than £5,000 in compensation and given unpaid work.
