Armed police arrest man near Cabot Circus

Armed police swooped on Cabot Circus on Monday afternoon following reports of a man shouting threats to members of the public on The Horsefair.

Officers arrested the man close to the bus stop on Penn Street outside Zara on suspicion of affray and a public order offence.

He was reportedly seen fighting on Lower Castle Street before being arrested, with bystander Jon Craig capturing the arrest on video.

An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said: “At 12.48pm today we received reports a man was shouting threats at other members of the public on The Horsefair in Bristol city centre.

“The man was then seen fighting with another man on Lower Castle Street.

“Officers, including armed officers, were deployed and the man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray and a public order offence.”
