Artwork replaces ad space

By Martin Booth  Friday Jun 7, 2024

Where there were once two advertising billboards, there is now a colourful mural welcoming visitors to this corner of south Bristol.

The ‘welcome to North Street’ artwork painted by Tozer Signs as part of Upfest Presents follows a long campaign from AdBlock Bristol to remove the billboards.

It is located next to North Street Green on the corner of North Street and Luckwell Road.

National campaign group Adfree Cities wrote on Instagram: “Great news from Bristol where two massive billboards have been removed following a long campaign by @adblockbristol.

“The billboards are next to a busy road in Bedminster, south Bristol, and overlook a public green space.

“Now the space is home to a beautiful mural welcoming people to the area. This is what it’s all about.”

The new work has become a sister piece to Tozer Sign’s ‘welcome to Bedminster’ mural painted in 2021 on the corner of East Street and Dalby Avenue.
