Balmoral returns to her berth by the M Shed
The Balmoral has the distinction of being the UK’s most widely travelled excursion ship, carrying more than two million passengers around the coastline of Britain and Ireland during her career.
Now the historic ship has departed from the Albion dry dock once again shipshape and Bristol fashion and has returned to her usual berth near to the M Shed just in time for the beginning of the Bristol Harbour Festival.
Built in 1900, the Balmoral has served as a pleasure steamer, a bar and nightclub, and an international cruiser, and will soon once again be hosting regular events.
is needed now More than ever
Repaired in 1949, the Balmoral became a passenger ferry between Southampton and Cowes on the Isle of Wight and first came to Bristol in 1969 under the charter of P. & A. Campbell.
To mark the occasion of the Balmoral’s latest restoration, former BBC broadcaster Ali Vowles will be speaking to Maddie Difazio Wright and Roger Francis on board on July 26.
