Billboard in Bristol calls for justice for Chris Kaba
A new billboard has appeared in Bristol calling for ‘Justice for Chris’.
It is one of a number of billboards across the UK demanding justice for the family of Chris Kaba, an unarmed Black man who died after being fatally shot by a police officer in south London.
The police officer who shot the 24-year-old rapper has since been suspended but concerns have been raised by the family about the events surrounding the shooting.
is needed now More than ever
The billboard in Bristol is located on York Street in St Werburgh’s.
A vigil is also being held on Queen Square this Saturday, September 17 as part of a national day of action in memory of Kaba.
Black Outdoor Art, the community art project and social initiative that produced the billboards, said they did so to support the nationwide movement #justiceforchriskaba, and to “bring attention to a tragedy ignored by much of the media and general public”.

Another billboard has been erected opposite Brixton station in London and more billboards are being produced around the country.
London-based designer, Greg Bunbury, who is behind Black Outdoor Art, wrote in 2021 that Black Outdoor Art is “the marketing of antiracism”.
“A poster cannot produce structural change in itself, but it can add to a climate. It can contribute to a version of society as we wish it to be.”
Black Outdoor Art has been using outdoor advertising as a platform for Black British creativity in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, and has been hosted by London outdoor media agency Brotherhood Media.
