Bristol Airport expects delays after global IT outage
Bristol Airport has warned travellers of disruptions on Friday, as airports across the world are experiencing technical difficulties due to a Microsoft IT outage.
Retailers at the airport are reportedly unable to take card payments, making transactions for travellers difficult.
An airport spokesperson said: “This is a global IT issue and is impacting aviation across the world – we expect to see disruption to some flights later today.
is needed now More than ever
“We advise all customers to arrive in line with their airline’s recommended time. Please contact airlines for the latest flight information before travelling to the Airport.”
“There is no impact to passport control at eGates currently. Like elsewhere, some of our retailers are currently unable to take card payments so we recommend passengers bring cash if possible.”
Watershed is now cash only until further notice due to card payment disruptions.
? Morning Bristol! Unfortunately our card payment systems are down at the moment, so we’re only able to accept cash. We’ll keep you posted x

GP practices across Bristol have also been facing difficulties.
In a statement, an NHS spokesperson said: “The NHS is aware of a global IT outage and an issue with EMIS, an appointment and patient record system, which is causing disruption in the majority of GP practices.
“The NHS has long standing measures in place to manage the disruption, including using paper patient records and handwritten prescriptions, and the usual phone systems to contact your GP.”
“There is currently no known impact on 999 or emergency services, so people should use these services as they usually would.”
“Patients should attend appointments unless told otherwise and only contact your GP if it’s urgent.”
Broadmead Medical Centre is just one of the GPs across the city who have out text messages about “technical difficulties” affecting their practice.
The outage that is halting several Microsoft 365 apps appears to have led to a blue error screen appearing on multiple users’ devices across the world.
