Bristol charity seeking ‘local legends’ for 2023 Everest trek
Fancy trekking up the highest mountain in the world?
A Bristol-based charity is offering exactly that. PHASE (Practical Help Achieving Self-Empowerment) Worldwide is a charity that supports rural Nepalese communities through integrated and sustainable programmes in health, education, and livelihoods.
For the past few years, the charity recruits local legends to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime trek to Everest Base Camp.
is needed now More than ever
In 2019, the trek saw volunteers from businesses across Bristol including Dominic Borel from Pasta Loco, Elisabeth Julienne Guillén from Gambas, Nathan Lee from Hyde & Co and Magda Pietrykowska from Pasta Ripiena take on the challenge. The 2022 team managed to raise over £60,000 for PHASE.
The expedition is conducted over 20 days from Lukla in North-Eastern Nepal to the base camp. With the help of highly trained local Sherpas, trekkers will begin in Kathmandu before travelling across the mountain range, experiencing the vast ruggedness of this legendary mountain.
PHASE wants each individual to raise £5,364, the height in metres of Everest Base Camp, which will cover everything from accommodation, travel, guides and food as well as fundraising.
The legendary trek is not for the fainthearted, but being part of a strong Bristol team will ensure one’s feet remain firmly on solid ground.
The deadline to book is September 2.
