Bristol councillor joins Reform
Daniel Fry, the Labour Party member and town councillor but never officially a Labour councillor, has joined Reform.
Fry says he feels “let down” by Labour, with his former party “going against its core labour values” and will now “identify as a Reform councillor”.
Fry, who represents Callicroft ward at Patchway Town Council, hit the headlines in May 2024 when he told a Green Party activist “to not forget what country you are in and the heritage this country has and the good it’s done for your community”.

The co-opted councillor later issued an apology to Fadumo Farah and in September, South Gloucestershire Council decided no further action would be taken against him as it was ruled that he had been tweeting in a personal capacity.
Fry, a coach driver, DJ and event organiser, revealed he had joined Reform on X in a reply to the site’s owner, Elon Musk.
Musk has recently called for the jailed Tommy Robinson to be released from prison; with Fry previously sharing tweets by Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.
Fry said in a tweet to Musk: “There’s many councillors joining reform from the Labour Party. 2024 I was a labour member, active councillor & activist. Let down, party going against its core labour values.
“Only way to sort the mess out in Britain is REFORM! I’m now a reform member and will identify as a reform councillor.”
When asked if he will stand down in order for a by-election to be held, Fry said: “With the cost to the constituents? It costs 10k for a local by election.
“I’d rather keep supporting my local constituents, lowering council tax without the need to raise the precept for an election.
“I’ll always support my constituents to the best I can regardless of party politics. It’s all about local people and not the party you represent at local council level.”
