Bristol couple left ‘totally gutted’ after van stolen
A Bristol couple has been left ‘totally gutted’ after their converted van was stolen before they were due to go on holiday.
Amy and Tim from Sea Mills had planned to take their disabled son on a holiday in the van, but were devastated to find it had been stolen on Saturday morning.
Tim had converted the van to enable the family to continue to go to the beach after their six year old son suffered from a stroke and was left disabled.
is needed now More than ever
The mother’s sister, Louise Whitaker, took to social media to ask for help.
In a tweet on Tuesday morning, she said her sister and brother in law were “totally gutted”.
“After my one year old nephew’s stroke my brother in law converted a van so they could continue to go to the beach and cater for my nephew’s additional needs. Last night it was stolen from Bristol – last tracked in Wrington.”
“This was a labour of love with the project taking years. Twitter is a long shot I know – but someone will try and sell it. Let’s make it too hot to touch.
“This van is irreplaceable. Purpose build for their needs. For this little fella and his wheelchair to get to the beach and go away.”
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “Inquiries are ongoing following the theft of a vehicle in Sea Mills over the weekend.”
They asked anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area to contact them.
