Bristol Energy invites city to ‘get smart’
Bristolians are being offered a chance to test new smart energy meters. Bristol Energy, the Bristol City Council owned gas and electric company, are behind the scheme, which they claim can save customers who have never switched as much as £200 each year.
The next generation energy meters are supposed to give customers accurate bills, near real time information on energy usage, and greater control over their gas and electricity. A smart meter helps customers to easily see how much energy they are using – allowing them to use less and save even more. This trial is part of a larger government effort to have all homes fitted with a smart energy meter by 2020.
Peter Haigh, managing director of Bristol Energy, said: “The customers who join our smart meter trial will have access to the latest technology, helping them to further lower their bills. And because we reinvest back into the city, our customers know that the money they do pay will go much further, making a positive difference to the city.”
is needed now More than ever
Bristol Energy is one of the country’s first municipal energy supply companies, and is the first in the south west to reinvest back into its home city.
The smart meter trial is open to everyone, whether they are on a ‘pay as you go` deal for their gas and electric, and have a pre-payment meter, or pay by direct debit.
