Bristol MP completes London Marathon three years after cancer treatment

By Bristol24/7  Monday Apr 29, 2019

More than £4,500 has now been raised for Bristol Drugs Project‘s youth groups thanks to the marathon efforts of Bristol West MP Thangam Debbonaire.

Debbonaire completed Sunday’s London Marathon in five hours, 46 minutes and 56 seconds in her first race over the distance.

The 52-year-old MP was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2015, and recovered a year later.

“Thanks everyone for support, inspiration and encouragement,” Debbonaire tweeted after the race.

“Running the #LondonMarathon today was one of the best days of my life & I can’t wait to do it again! Not tomorrow though. Privilege to run in aid of @bdpROADS youthwork. Donations still welcome!”
