Broadmead-based creative campus launches ‘industry-taster’ webinar series

By Sofia Webster  Tuesday Jun 4, 2024

In collaboration with the Business West Chamber of Commerce and the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) team, Access Creative College has launched a series of creative webinars to boost creative career opportunities and fill skill gaps in the region.

Access Creative College, located in Broadmead as well as other campuses in UK cities, offers full-time vocational courses in a variety of industries such as music, events, sports science and film.

The webinars, focusing on creative industries, will include support from companies such as film and video production company Bottle Yard, responsible for the likes of The Outlaws and Children in Need.

The LSIP team found that some parents and young people are less familiar with this region’s extensive creative activity and the career opportunities that come from pursuing creative qualifications.

As a result, this project was initiated with the help of schools, parents and local employers to inspire regional talents and raise awareness of creative careers.

“Our goal is to continue providing valuable resources and opportunities that inspire confidence in both learners and their parents about the viability and excitement of creative career paths,” said Jon Domaille, head of campus

The first webinar in this series, which began on May 15, focused on the benefits of having creative qualifications for employability skills with help from Bottle Yard and Fable Studios.

Head of campus at Access Creative College, Jon Domaille, said: “We are thrilled with the engagement and positive feedback from our first webinar.

“Our goal is to continue providing valuable resources and opportunities that inspire confidence in both learners and their parents about the viability and excitement of creative career paths.”

The second webinar to take place, currently scheduled for June 12, focuses on raising awareness of creative opportunities in the South West, with representation from Bristol Creative Industries (BCI).

For more information and to register for the webinar, tickets can be found here. If the webinars prove successful, BCI plans on expanding the series nationally.
