Burst pipe triggers huge water fountain on street

By Betty Woolerton  Thursday Sep 8, 2022

A temporary new water feature was installed on Wednesday as a water pipe burst in Easton.

The leak could be seen soaring well above Stapleton Road’s two-storey buildings at around 11pm.

A Bristol Water spokesperson said: “We received a report late yesterday of a large water leak on Stapleton Road, Easton. Our inspector arrived on site to find that a third party had damaged a fire hydrant while operating it.

“Our inspector isolated the water to the hydrant and completed the necessary repairs overnight without any impact to water supplies for our customers.

They added: “Due to the large volume of water and the pressure change in the pipes disrupting the flow of water, this has caused sediment to move in the pipes which has discoloured some water supplies in the area.

“Our crew have been out ‘flushing’ the pipes today to clear the water and get all of our customers water supplies back to normal as quickly as possible.”
