The orchard was set up in 1998 when volunteers cleared overgrown plots on the outskirts of a Horfield and District Allotment Association site in Bristol, planting 100 different fruiting trees, bushes and vines over the years.
In 2011 they established HOCO as a member-led group to manage the orchard as an independent community food project.
HOCO runs many year-round Orchard learning courses, in addition to membership packages for those who want to get involved.
Apple Day is running on Sunday from 2pm till 4pm at the orchard in Golden Hill site and is accessible from the Bishop Road end of Donkey Lane. HOCO recommend using the pre-ordering system on their website if you wish to purchase fruit trees.
