Children march to City Hall demanding ceasefire in Israel-Gaza conflict
Hundreds of children and parents took part in a demo outside City Hall on Friday in solidarity with children killed in Gaza.
The strike was organised by School Strike for Palestine, a collective of parents in Bristol who hope to bring attention to the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.
Parents and children held placards calling for peace and an end to the conflict on College Green, as speakers from Stop the War Coalition and School Strike for Palestine spoke.

They then marched to the front entrance of City Hall to deliver a letter demanding Bristol’s MPs call for a ceasefire.
Hundreds of ribbons in the colour of the Palestinian flag were tied to the railings of the building.

“We want this to be about the children,” the organisers told Bristol24/7. “We want people to see that this is a humanitarian crisis, and this is by the children for the children of Gaza.”
Organisers hope the strike will become a national movement, in other cities across the UK.
At the time of publication, Bristol’s four MPs, Kerry McCarthy, Darren Jones, Karin Smyth and Thangam Debbonaire, have not called for a ceasefire.
Co-leader of the Green Party, Carla Denyer, has also called on Bristol’s MPs to demand a ceasefire.
Runners from Run the Wall also joined the march, after running to raise money for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
A spokesperson for School Strike for Palestine said the organisation would continue to hold demonstrations outside City Hall every Friday until MPs called for a ceasefire.
A number of events are taking place across the weekend in solidarity with Palestine, including a bike ride for Palestine, a march in Castle Park on Saturday, and a vigil for those killed in the ongoing conflict.
