Claire Hazelgrove elected to Foreign Affairs Select Committee
Claire Hazelgrove has been elected onto the prestigious Foreign Affairs Select Committee at the House of Commons.
The newly elected MP for Filton & Bradley Stoke has also made her maiden speech in the House of Commons.
Hazelgrove, who describes herself as “an ardent internationalist”, said: “I look forward to playing my part to support Britain’s renewed role on the world stage. Our strength, diplomacy and compassion couldn’t matter more.”

The job of the committee, made up of a group of group of cross-party MPs, is to examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Foreign Office and other bodies associated with the department including the British Council.
The chair of the committee is former Labour leadership contender, Emily Thornberry.
In her maiden speech, Hazelgrove promised to “work hard every day to serve all residents as an active, impactful and approachable MP they can be proud of”
She said: “Named after the oldest and youngest towns at the time of its creation, and including many distinct and vibrant communities, I am determined to put the whole of the Filton and Bradley Stoke constituency on the map.
“Ours is the home of Concorde and the future of flight, with our aerospace companies setting the standard nationally and internationally.
“It’s the home of the lifesaving NHS Blood & Transplant, the innovative University of the West of England, and the vital MoD Abbey Wood.
“It’s also home to Wallace and Gromit, more places called Stoke than you can count after a few great local ciders, and a palpable belief that better days still lie ahead.”
