Conservative candidate in Bristol looked into over election betting
The Conservative candidate for Bristol North West has become the latest person to be looked into by the Gambling Commission over an alleged bet relating to the timing of the general election.
A BBC News story names Laura Saunders but it is not known when the alleged bet was placed or for how much money.
Saunders, who was born in Southmead Hospital, has worked for the Conservative Party for almost a decade.

It comes as a police officer from Rishi Sunak’s close protection team was arrested for allegedly betting on the timing of the general election, following another Tory parliamentary candidate, Craig Williams, who had been a parliamentary aide to the prime minister, apologising over betting on the date of the general election.
A Conservative Party spokesman told the BBC: “We have been contacted by the Gambling Commission about a small number of individuals.
“As the Gambling Commission is an independent body, it wouldn’t be proper to comment further, until any process is concluded.”

Saunders is head of the Conservative Party’s international department; with her website saying that she speaks several languages including Russian, French and Czech.
Saunders’ six-point plan for Bristol North West includes new train stations; more services for Southmead Hospital; stopping charges for parking on high streets in Henbury, Shirehampton and Westbury-on-Trym; restoring public access to Stoke Lodge playing fields; and stopping van dwellers using the Downs.
Labour rising star Darren Jones has been the MP for Bristol North West since 2017 and is the clear favourite to retain his seat in a constituency which has always swung between Labour and the Conservatives.
Bristol24/7 has contacted Saunders for a comment.
