Crowdfunding campaign launched to keep popular football club running

By Ellie Pipe  Monday Jan 15, 2024

A club that has been making a difference to young lives in Barton Hill for almost seven years needs help to keep going.

The weekly football training sessions at City Academy provide boys from the neighbourhood and surrounding areas with the opportunity to come together, get some exercise and forge friendships in a safe and positive environment.

But the group has run out of money and a crowdfunder has been launched to secure its future.

Samira Musse, the co-founder of Barton Hill Activity Club, launched the crowdfunding campaign.

She said: “We have run out of funding but we don’t want to stop the popular and engaged football club – we need all the support we can get.

“We have been running this football club for nearly seven years and it’s a place where the parents feel their children are in a safe environment and they can get exercise and make positive friendships.”

Samira added that the sessions provide children in the area with the opportunity to benefit from exercise and focused activity with the support of trained coaches.
