Cyclist in her 30s dies after being hit by a lorry

A cyclist has been killed in a collision with a lorry.

The woman, who was in her 30s, died at the scene of the incident on Whitchurch Lane in Hengrove.

The collision took place at around 8am on Wednesday at the junction with The Boulevard.

The road was closed from the roundabout with Hawkfield Way to the junction with Bamfield for a number of hours and has now reopened.

In a statement, a spokesperson from Avon & Somerset police said their “thoughts are with her family during this difficult time”.

They also said the woman’s family is being supported by one of their specially trained officers.

Anyone who was in the area and saw the incident, or has dashcam footage, and hasn’t yet spoken to police, please do so by calling 101, quoting reference number 5222275628.
