Death of man on Downs ‘not suspicious’

A post-mortem, carried out on the man found dead on Clifton Downs on Sunday, has concluded he died from natural causes.

The body of the man was found around 9.55am yesterday morning near Ladies Mile.
 
Formal identification of the man has not yet taken place, but his family have been informed of his death.

A report is being prepared for the coroner’s office, but Avon and Somerset police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Road closures will be lifted later today.

Police are still appealing for witnesses who may have seen the man in Clifton Downs area between Saturday (22/11) afternoon and yesterday morning.

He is described as white, of average height and large build. He had short cropped hair and was wearing a blue baseball cap and blue shorts.
