Debbonaire to return after cancer scare
Bristol West MP Thangam Debbonaire is set to return to work next month following her breast cancer diagnosis two months after the General Election.
Debbonaire, 49, said recent tests showed “no cancer cells” after her surgery and chemotherapy treatment at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.
The Labour MP, who turned over an 11,000 Lib Dem majority to take her seat, revealed on Twitter she was almost ready to make a return to Westminster.

“Thanks to NHS staff and colleagues/friends everywhere for support. Can’t wait to be back in Westminster,” she said.

She now has four weeks of radiotherapy remaining before her treatment is over. While she has been ill, Debbonaire has been “paired” with Tory MPs who are barred from voting in Parliament to even out her absence.
The MP told the BBC she was already “easing back” into work and had been working from home submitting questions to ministers during her illness.
She added: “It’s quite hard to cut off completely, most of the time I have stayed in touch. I’m really looking forward to getting back, stuck in properly.”
