Diversity Month in Dundry View
Dundry View’s Zion Community Space is set to be taken over this October by a month of arts, music, theatre, film and photography. With a host of free events promoting the positive aspects of multiculturalism, the organisers of Diversity Month hope to reunite an area where hate crimes have been on the up.
“Our exhibition documents the heritage of our families, and the events reflect the amazing culture that has been introduced to Bristol as a result,” promises the community project programme.
The impressive line-up of events, put together with the support of Bristol City Council and local diversity charities, include A Celebration of St Paul’s Carnival, Theatre Monologues by Dr Edson Burton and a stand-up set by Shazia Mirza. Each event aims to celebrate and encourage cohesion of all residents living in the area.
is needed now More than ever
The eclectic mix of visual arts, music and theatre has been carefully chosen to engage a wide audience of Dundry View residents. Jess Wright, founder of Zion Community Space, invites “everyone to come along to find out more about our community and the people that make South Bristol a great place to be”.
By celebrating the stories and journeys of South Bristol’s residents through workshops, performances and discussions, the organisers of this ambitious community project hope that their Diversity Month will help encourage a growing community spirit.
