Empty city centre office block to be turned into flats

By Adam Postans  Thursday Apr 4, 2024

A five-storey office block overlooking College Green will be turned into 32 flats under plans recently submitted to Bristol City Council.

Part of the basement and ground floor, and the entire first, second, third and fourth storeys at College House above a Tesco Express shop will become flats if approval for an application for the work to take place under permitted development rights is accepted.

The development will not affect the retail outlets on the ground floor which also include the recruitment agency Pertemps.

In planning documents, agents said the five-storey building most recently occupied by Icon Films and Creative England previously had approval for a change of use to 28 flats but this consent had since expired.

They said the current proposal was very similar and would include 42 cycle spaces, with some flats in the development having unusual views looking over the Lord Mayor’s Chapel.
