First images released of redeveloped Broadmead
Broadmead is set to become unrecognisable, with these first computer generated images revealing a redesigned Horsefair and Penn Street once the area is taken over by the current owners of Cabot Circus.
A mix of covered and open shopping areas will be created, with buses and cars rerouted, trees planted high above shoppers’ heads, and hot air balloons casually floating by on the breeze:

Cabot Circus centre manager Stephanie Lacey said: “We were overwhelmed by the positive feedback and support we received through our public consultation in the summer on our plans to redevelop Broadmead. We have taken these comments on board and used them to help shape the plans.
“We fully support a ‘city centre first’ approach to new development and, as the South West’s regional capital, we believe that Bristol deserves a first class shopping and leisure offer.”
The next stage in the redevelopment of the area of Broadmead within the red line below is now underway with the submission of an outline planning application to Bristol City Council.
A new Broadmead aims to offer a mix of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, leisure and open spaces, creating a more modern shopping district in the heart of the city.
