Floating Harbour freezes over for first time in years
A number of confused gulls waddled over iced sections of the Floating Harbour on Thursday morning.
Water in the docks had frozen for the first time in many years as temperatures plummeted to as low as -5°C in the city centre overnight.
Not all of the water in the docks was covered by ice, however, with the cross-harbour ferry still able to navigate its way across from the SS Great Britain to the Harbour Inlet.
is needed now More than ever
Despite the sunshine, temperatures are not expected to rise much above freezing on Thursday or Friday.
But rain on Sunday will come before the mercury rises to as high as 14° on Monday.
