Hanging baskets donated after theft at library

By Milan Perera  Thursday Aug 8, 2024

The joy of their annual summer festival was short lived for Horfield Library, as hanging baskets outside the building were stolen soon after the event finished.

Bristol24/7 reported on the theft when it happened two weeks ago and since then there has been an outpouring of support.

One person, who declined to be identified, was so moved that they offered to donate two hanging baskets.

Horfield Library were delighted to receive the generous offer and on Saturday the new hanging baskets were installed.

After a Bristol24/7 report two weeks ago, an anonymous donor generously gave two new hanging baskets to the Library

Chris Lindop, chair of the Friends of Horfield Library group, said these new hanging baskets are under lock and key to prevent future theft.

She added: “There’s a lot of grim news at the moment, but at least we’ve got something to smile about.”
