Green councillor suspended from party
A Green councillor who has been suspended from the party says is appealing the anonymous complaint against her.
The party has confirmed that Jude English has been suspended pending an investigation by the Green Party Regional Council.
English, who has represented Ashley ward since 2016, told Bristol24/7 she is the victim of an anonymous “vexatious” complaint.

The Green Party has not commented on the nature of the complaint, but a post on X (formerly Twitter) by gender critical lawyer Sarah Phillimore suggests it relates to backing of gender critical views and lack of support for trans rights.
In its rights and responsibilities, the Green Party “recognises that there are many gender identities that are within, and outside of, the traditional gender binary of man and woman. The Green Party recognises that trans men are men, trans women are women, and that non-binary identities exist and are valid.”
English told Bristol24/7: “I have appealed and am confident that my local party will investigate quickly, find the complaint malicious and unreasonable and that justice will prevail.”
In a statement, the Green Party said: “We can confirm that councillor Jude English has been suspended pending an investigation by the Green Party Regional Council.
“We do not comment on ongoing internal disciplinary matters.
“As a local group, Bristol Green Party respect the procedures which govern our party, and are focusing our efforts on ensuring the wellbeing of our group in light of this situation, as well as on winning elections so we can work for a fairer, greener city.”
It comes as Green candidate Shaban Ali, who was due to stand in Eastville in May’s local elections, has had his candidacy suspended over an unrelated matter.
