GWR train dons face ‘mask’

By Jack Fifield  Monday Jun 15, 2020

An eye-catching reminder is reminding passengers to wear a face covering on its Great Western Railway (GWR) trains

From Monday, June 15, it is compulsory to wear face masks on public transport and GWR’s trains are even donning “face” coverings.

The Government has made it mandatory for all passengers on public transport to wear face coverings whilst travelling in England from today – the same day the masked train re-enters service.

“We wanted to do something to reinforce the message about wearing a face covering, helping to keep customers safe and our staff safe”,” says Dan Panes, head of communications at GWR. “We are doing everything we can to carry as many people, safely, as we can.”

As well as encouraging passengers to remember their face coverings, passengers have also been asked to plan ahead, avoid travelling in peak hours and to make use of cashless payment methods, such as through contactless or using apps.
