Homes evacuated after reports of ‘suspicious packages’ in pub
Homes and businesses were evacuated on Sunday afternoon after reports of “suspicious packages” being left at a pub in south Bristol.
A 50-metre cordon was put in place around the Three Lions with police asking members of the public to avoid the area.
Police were first called to the pub on West Street in Bedminster – a popular pub with Bristol City supporters – at 12.40pm and quickly declared an “internal major incident”.

This was later downgraded to the less serious “critical incident”, with a police drone still flying above the pub’s beer garden soon after 4pm.
At 5.24pm, police said that “searches of the area are continuing at the moment. Our number one priority is public safety and the cordon will remain in place until those searches are completed.”
