Huge cannabis haul seized

By Ellie Pipe  Thursday Mar 7, 2024

Drugs worth more than £110,00 have been seized after police raided a vast cannabis farm in a terraced house.

Officers forced entry into the property in Bedminster Down after being issued with a warrant for the address to find several floors of cannabis plants and sheets of dried cannabis.

The detective in charge of the operation says the bust has “potentially averted a fatal fire”, with electrics at the home deemed to be such a risk that engineers from the National Grid were immediately called to make the property safe.

A man in his twenties who was inside the property was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and is currently in police custody.

Detective inspector Angela Burtonwood said: “We thank the community for supporting our efforts to identify cannabis grows and would ask that any suspicions or intelligence are reported to us online or by calling 101 or shared anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
