Hundreds march through Bristol for Grenfell fire victims
“Justice for Grenfell,” went the chant as hundreds of people marched through the streets of Bristol in support of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.
The march started on Wednesday evening by the fountains on the centre and ended with a rally outside St Paul’s Learning & Family Centre.

is needed now More than ever
March organisers Bristol People’s Assembly and ACORN community union said that the protest “aims to unite Bristolians in very visible solidarity with the victims of the Grenfell fire”.
They demand urgent compensation for residents, their immediate rehousing in the community, immediate action to ensure the maximum safety standards of social and council housing nationwide, and a fully independent public inquiry where Grenfell residents and those directly affected are ‘core participants’.
A spokesman for Bristol People’s Assembly said: “The Tory government’s response to the tragic Grenfell Tower fire has been shamefully slack and just utterly inadequate.
“They refuse outright to house people in empty buildings nearby, they failed to provide people with fit emergency accommodation and assistance in the local aid effort and show no sense of urgency in addressing major safety concerns over conditions in social housing blocks nationwide.
“This all goes to show what contempt they have for ordinary people, as they continue to cut taxes for the rich, put public services into crisis through underfunding, and allow speculators and exploitative landlords to rig the housing market against us.”
