Immigration lawyers named as far-right’s next target in Bristol
A second anti-immigration rally is due to take place in Bristol outside a firm of lawyers who specialise in immigration applications.
“Wednesday needs to be a fire burning so bright they will see the flames from space,” says a post on Telegram that appears to be organising the event that follows the violence of Saturday which saw a far-right mob attack a hotel housing asylum seekers.
Gya Williams Immigration on West Street in Old Market is one of many places across England where protests are being planned on the encrypted messaging app from 8pm on Wednesday.
is needed now More than ever
“They won’t stop coming until you tell them,.. no more immigration,” says the Telegram post.
Gya Williams Immigration says that their “comprehensive and tailored services cover a wide spectrum of UK immigration routes, from work authorisations of all types including sponsorship and business routes, to family based applications and visitor visas”.
All the signage for the company has been removed from outside their premises, the exact location of which Bristol24/7 is choosing not to reveal for safety reasons.
Gya Williams declined to comment about Wednesday’s planned rally.

In a similar vein to the human shield who protected the Mercure Hotel on Redcliff Hill from attack by a far-right mob on Saturday evening, a counter-protest is already being organised.
In a social media post, Bristol Against Hate wrote: “Far-right fascists have once again called a demo in Bristol. Join in resisting racism and help protect our communities.
“Saturday showed that Bristol is anti-fascist. Let’s stay strong together and do it again!”
West Street restaurant Tomo No Ramen will not be opening on Wednesday due to the planned demonstration.
In a statement, they said: “Unfortunately, there is another planned anti-immigration rally, this time in Old Market this Wednesday.
“We will be closing for the evening as a safety precaution for our staff and customers.
“We have many businesses on Old Market that will be vulnerable to hate crime.
“I highly recommend avoiding the area this Wednesday evening, and showing any support for these businesses in any way you can.”
On Monday morning, police officers visited the building on West Street in which Gya Williams Immigration has their offices to offer safety advice. Avon & Somerset Police have been asked for comment.
