Improvement works to start on Bristol & Bath Railway Path
Work is set to begin on Monday on improvements to a short stretch of the Bristol & Bath Railway Path.
It will mark the start of a series of works planned on the popular path in South Gloucestershire, including upgrading drainage, and improving access and crossing points.
The work is being delivered by South Gloucestershire Council, with funding from the Department for Transport through Sustrans’ Paths for Everyone programme.
is needed now More than ever
The stretch of the path between Signal Road in Staple Hill and Ridley Avenue close to the old Mangotsfield railway station is expected to be closed from Monday until October 4.
Sustrans’ Paths for Everyone programme works to make the National Cycle Network safer and more accessible.

Sustrans head of partnerships, Jon Usher, said that “it’s great to see this project coming to fruition”.
He said: “These improvements will help to make this much-loved route a more enjoyable place to walk, wheel, scoot and cycle.
“The railway path is so much to so many people. It’s a commuter route, the school run, an exercise space and a place to socialise with friends and family.
“We want this iconic space to carry on serving the communities around it for years to come, and South Gloucestershire Council’s works will help to make that happen.”
