In photos: Ashley Down station opens

Dozens of people gathered at Ashley Down station on Saturday morning to greet its first timetabled train.

Unlike the official opening the previous day, there was no cake; but there was much exuberance as passengers welcomed in the train from Temple Meads at 7.33am.

Bristol24/7 photographer Rob Browne’s train from Clifton Down to Stapleton Road on Saturday morning was cancelled, so he had to drive to Ashley Down in order to capture the historic moment:
