In photos: Extinction Rebellion’s Summer Uprising day three
Police have made arrests after Extinction Rebellion protesters blocked the M32 inbound near Bond Street on Wednesday, July 17.
At around 6.50am on Wednesday morning, roughly 30 protestors stopped traffic in Newfoundland Road before moving to block the M32 inbound near to Bond Street.
After protesters glued themselves to a pink bathtub on a middle lane section of the motorway, officers circled the tub to make arrests at around 10.45am, assisted by a specialist protest removal team.

Protesters were first given warnings before arrests concerning the obstruction of a highway were made.
“Throughout the protest, we’ve been balancing our duties under the Human Rights Act to allow peaceful protests to take place while balancing that with the need to reduce the amount of disruption to the public and keep people safe,” said police chief inspector Mark Runacres.
“The action taken by some of the protestors this morning has crossed the line and is a situation we can no longer accept.
“We were clear that we would take robust action to maintain public safety and that’s what we’re doing. We will continue to work with our partner agencies to monitor protest activity and will take further action if necessary.”
This action comes part of a five-day uprising organised by the movement. On Monday, the protest kicked off with a party-like atmosphere. and on Tuesday, Billy Bragg gave a speech at the protester’s pink ship on Bristol Bridge. The protest is expected to last until Friday, July 19.
