Infamous underpasses finally unblocked
Pedestrians and cyclists using the underpasses under junction 3 of the M32 have become accustomed in recent years to the passages flooding after every rainfall.
Bricks, breezeblocks and wooden pallets have all been used as methods to navigate the floodwaters in Bristol’s real life Total Wipeout course.
Newly elected Labour councillor for Southmead, Kaz Self, even previously suggested that I should unblock the drains myself after I wrote a story on Bristol24/7 about the subways being regularly underwater.
is needed now More than ever
But I now have no need to purchase a pair of salopettes after the drains have finally – hopefully – been fixed.
Council contractors are currently re-lining the drains to prevent them from getting blocked.
Green Party councillor for Lockleaze, David Wilcox, celebrated the news on Thursday afternoon.
“No more breezeblocks or pallets to cross the ponds!” he tweeted.
