Joe Sims presents his first Radio Bristol breakfast show
One Love by Bob Marley and the Wailers was the first song played by Joe Sims on his first morning in the presenter’s chair on the BBC Radio Bristol breakfast show.
“Good morning, beauties. How are you doing?” Sims said soon after 6am on Monday.
“Wow, I’m sure you all remember your first day in your new jobs. As you might imagine, I’m excited and terrified in equal measure and I cannot believe that I’m actually here.
is needed now More than ever
“I mean, growing up as a lad on an estate in east Bristol, I just feel like this isn’t meant to happen for people like me.
“And so it’s a real dream come true to be sat here in the BBC talking to people in my favourite city in the entire world.
“Now, I know that I’m just a custodian of this fantastic show because it belongs to you, the listeners.
“But I promise that I’ll get up every single day and I will graft my socks off and everyone will here too to make it a breakfast show that hopefully will put a smile on your face and a spring in your step.”

The 43-year-old actor, best know for his roles in Broadchurch and Doctor Who, has taken to the airwaves for ‘Joe Sims at Breakfast’ as part of a radical overhaul of the Radio Bristol schedules.
Former Radio Bristol drivetime presenter Claire Cavanagh is the newsreader on the new show, which is called ‘A Proper Bristol Breakfast’.
The first show included a tour by Sims behind the scenes of the Bristol Beacon, which he called “absolutely banging” before playing his second song, The Edge of Heaven by Wham.
